The starting salary for this position ranges from $56,100 to $72,535, depending on the candidate's years of experience. Residency requirements must be met within 12 months of hire, with sworn staff required to reside within 45 minutes of the DCP Headquarters located at 1001 E. Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23219.

Requirements

  • Must have a current Virginia Division of Criminal Justice certification as a Law Enforcement Officer.
  • Must have experience as a sworn Police Officer in Virginia.
  • Must be 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
  • Valid driver's license and high school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Must be able to pass a physical and psychological examination; no felony or misdemeanor convictions; subject to random drug screening.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with a diverse population.
  • Ability to utilize a personal computer using current software programs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with applicable coursework in government, business, criminal justice or a related field.
