Job Description

The Recreation Therapist role at Emory Healthcare is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals in need of physical, mental, and emotional healing. As a Recreation Therapist, you will use recreational activities to help empower and enrich the lives of our patients, and work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure that they are receiving the best care possible. To be successful in this role, you must be a certified Recreation Therapist with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to think critically, problem solve, and work in a fast-paced environment. If you are passionate about providing meaningful therapeutic experiences and activities, this is the perfect position for you!

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement individualized recreational activities and treatment plans to meet the needs of patients.
  2. Monitor and evaluate patients’ progress to ensure therapeutic goals are being met.
  3. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for each patient.
  4. Utilize sound judgement and creativity to identify and recommend activities that are appropriate for each patient’s needs.
  5. Educate patients and family members on the benefits of therapeutic recreation.
  6. Document all patient interactions and progress in the medical records.
  7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of recreational therapy best practices.
  8. Ensure patient safety and compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  9. Participate in team meetings and provide feedback for the improvement of patient care.
