YouTube Trends Researcher (Lifestyle & Commentary Content) | Elle Herself (17.6K) ID- 12548

About the Job

I make YouTube videos about real life in your 30s (motherhood, health, identity, internet culture) all with a side of humour, honesty, and the occasional breakdown.

I’m not trying to cover everything... I’m trying to cover the right things.

I want someone who’s properly online - the kind of person who sees a niche TikTok or headline and instantly thinks, “This could be a video.”

Your job? Help me spot the stories, trends, or internet weirdness that are gaining traction before they hit the homepage, and help shape them into sharp commentary, challenge/vlog, or reaction-style content.

That means:

→ Pitching ideas that actually make sense for my channel

→ Helping pull TikToks, shorts, or other clips to support the storyline

→ Not just telling me something is viral - tell me why it's blowing up, and why people care.

If you're the friend dropping unhinged links into the group chat like “this is insane,” we’re probably going to get along great.

Ideal Candidate

You’re the person in your group chat who’s always way too online - you don’t just know what’s trending (or about to trend), you know why people are talking about it.

You don’t just follow pop culture - you’re watching the psychology of it all. Why did that story blow up? Why did that moment go viral? You’re curious, quick to click, and even quicker to spot what’s going to stick.

You’re a fast researcher with a strong sense of storytelling. You can separate a moment that’s just loud from one that could actually become a strong video, and you know how to back it up with links, examples, and structure.

You don’t need to be a YouTuber, but you do need to understand what makes a good video. How short-form chaos becomes long-form storytelling, and how commentary and reaction content can shape that moment into something fresh.

(Bonus if you have a good sense of humour!)

Nice to have:

  • You’ve worked with content creators or YouTubers before (or at least obsessively watch enough to understand the format and flow)
  • You know how to find the hook.
  • You’ve got an eye for content hooks and titles that would actually get clicks - and then the content HOLDS attention.
  • You’re confident using Google Docs or Notion to drop ideas in.
  • You can gather links/clips/screenshots in a way that’s actually helpful (not 25 random TikToks with no context).
