About the position

The Electric Line Technician I - Underground position at the City of Concord is responsible for providing effective and reliable service in the maintenance and operation of underground and overhead power distribution lines and equipment. This entry-level role involves locating, installing, testing, repairing, and monitoring electrical systems to ensure uninterrupted service to customers. The technician will work under the guidance of more experienced line technicians and will be involved in various physical tasks related to electrical maintenance and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Locates, installs, tests, repairs, monitors, and maintains underground and assist with overhead electric systems, facilities, and equipment.
  • Completes routine inspections of a variety of electrical equipment.
  • Operates, transports, and sets up a variety of machinery to perform assigned work.
  • Provides support and information to customers regarding services and ongoing work.
  • Assists Line Technician II and III with work on three phase and single phase primary underground and overhead electrical equipment.
  • Performs work on energized circuits from a bucket truck or climbs wooden and steel poles as required.
  • Performs other similar duties as required.
