Mobile Recreation Leader ID- 9561
Job Summary Mobile Recreation Leader This position is responsible for supporting the mobile recreation program held at various park sites throughout Kirkland. Must be able to work as a team with other assigned staff and also independently with little supervision. Will support the daily operations and activities, which include leading organized games, arts & crafts, and special events.
Develops positive, supportive relationships with participants, parents, the public and other department staff. Conducts oneself in a professional manner that represents the City well; be involved and engaged in program & activities with the participants; use promotional materials that promote the program and activities. The successful candidate must be available to begin work Tuesday and Thursday between 1:00-5:00 and Friday's from 9:00-3:00.
Program will start the week of June 23rd and conclude the week of Aug 15th. The position has a variable hour work schedule, up to 17 hours per week. Schedule is Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set-up and tear down of program equipment and supplies. Support programs and activities. Work with youth between ages 4-12 in a positive manner.
Interact professionally with participants and other employees. Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations. Responsible for inventory and tracking of equipment and supplies.
Follow/adhere to all city policies and procedures, and safety program regulations and requirements. Work effectively as a team. Physically set up and tear-down program equipment.
Represent the City in a positive and professional manner; use good judgment and be a good role model for youth. Take initiative and possess strong work ethic. Work cohesively with other team members.
Perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good communication skills are required. Ability to interact courteously with the public. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Licenses, Certificates and Other Requirements: Must obtain First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days. Must successfully pass all phases of the pre-employment hiring process, including but not limited to, reference checks and a criminal background check. Other Environmental Conditions/Physical Effort: Work is primarily performed outside at local parks in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
