About the position

The Music Director at Royal Entertainment is responsible for leading the music program, mentoring musicians, and conducting rehearsals and performances. This part-time role requires a passionate individual who can inspire a team and select appropriate music that challenges musicians while appealing to audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead regular music rehearsals, dictating the volume, phrasing, and tempo of each piece, and conduct the group during performances throughout the year.
  • Select music that will be a good fit for the musicians and offer a challenge, as well as appeal to your audience, and transpose music as needed.
  • Examine musical scores to determine your interpretation and develop a deep understanding of the piece before presenting it to group members.
  • Choose soloists for special events and coordinate rehearsals so soloists and groups can adequately prepare for events.
  • Oversee staff daily as they copy and arrange music and provide coaching to the musicians.
  • Upload tracks and lyrics so musicians and vocalists can listen to difficult sections of individual parts.
  • Communicate with all company management through the appropriate channels to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Evaluate group members every quarter and provide in-depth feedback so all musicians can work on their craft to achieve higher stages of excellence.
  • Mentor and educate musicians on musical techniques and styles.
  • Communicate effectively with musicians, staff, and stakeholders.
