Our client is a leading medical device company specializing in catheter-based technologies, dedicated to innovation and excellence in patient care. Our team is growing, and we are seeking a CNC Machine Shop Manager to oversee precision machining operations and ensure the highest quality standards in our production processes.
Position Overview:
The CNC Machine Shop Manager will be responsible for leading the daily operations of our CNC machining department, ensuring efficient production, quality control, and continuous improvement. This role requires expertise in precision machining, process optimization, and leadership to support the manufacturing of high-quality catheter components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee CNC machining operations to ensure precision, efficiency, and compliance with medical device manufacturing standards (ISO 13485, FDA regulations).
- Lead and manage a team of machinists and programmers, providing guidance, training, and performance oversight.
- Optimize CNC programming and machining processes for improved cycle times, tool life, and part quality.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, conducting inspections and collaborating with Quality Assurance teams.
- Manage shop workflow, prioritizing production schedules and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing teams to support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for CNC equipment to maximize uptime and efficiency.
- Monitor and manage machining costs, ensuring efficient use of materials and resources.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to drive process improvements and reduce waste.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing environment, preferably within the medical device industry.
- 3+ years of leadership/management experience overseeing machine shop personnel.
- Extensive experience with CNC milling and turning (Swiss-style machining preferred).
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks, or similar). - Strong understanding of GD&T, metrology, and blueprint reading.
- Knowledge of catheter-based product machining or similar high-precision medical components is a plus.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (ISO 13485, FDA, GMP).
- Lean Manufacturing and process improvement experience (Six Sigma certification a plus).
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
