JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Certified Full Time Substitute Teacher – Self Contained Special Education

Location: Parkside Junior High School

Department: Building Personnel

Reports to: Principal/Assistant Principal

FLSA Class: Exempt

SUMMARY

This full time Substitute Teacher position is responsible for providing classroom instruction and support to Unit 5 students five days a week in a self-contained Special Education room at Parkside Junior High School. This position will be for the duration of the 23-24 school year only.

DUTIES * Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans and school rules.

Leading instruction in the classroom by following the teacher’s lesson plans and/or creating lesson plans. .

Instructing students on a variety of classroom topics.

Building positive relationships.

Motivate students to learn, and encourage classroom participation.

Create a classroom environment that’s conducive to learning and appropriate for the students.

Adapt to the various learning styles and social needs of students. * Maintain order in the classroom and demonstrate confidence working with students with varying strengths and skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree or higher.

Ability to obtain and maintain the Substitute License through the Regional Office of Education (ROE #17).

Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time.

Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.

Ability to maintain good working relationships with fellow employees and pupils. SCHEDULE

The work hours of this position would range from approximately 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Rate – $25.00, estimated 7.5 Hours a day
