Responsible for providing customer service and handling money. Incumbents handle front line sales, prepare reports and other correspondence, and may provide instruction to office staff.

- Provides assistance to customers in person or over the phone regarding tax/tag issues.
- Ensures motor vehicle registration and ad valorem tax collection compliance.
- Collects payments from customers and keeps daily records of receivables.
- Maintains various records and files related to the tax/tag department.
- Ability to professionally represent the Office of the Tax Commissioner in a professional office environment.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Additional Information

Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Two years of financial/tax customer service experience.
- If selected for interview, applicants will be required to take a basic math test and data entry test.
- Must be available to work Monday through Friday.
- Must have a valid Georgia Drivers License.
- Must pass a comprehensive background investigation including credit, driving, criminal and employment history checks.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Customer service principles.
- Skill in applying laws, rules, and regulations.
- Strong data entry skills.
- Skill in accurately/efficiently performing detailed transactions.
- Basic math.
- General office procedures.
- Using a computer and applicable software applications.
- Maintaining records and preparing reports.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with the public, coworkers, supervisor, etc. proficient at exchanging and conveying information and to receive work direction.
Physical Requirements:
Grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
