Description

 

  • The purpose of this classification is to perform routine customer service functions and manual labor to facilitate operations in an assigned area, such as golf course, pro shop, recycling center.

 

Examples of Duties

 

  • The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Performs routine customer service functions: provides assistance and information regarding services, facilities, policies and procedures, fees, operating hours, or other issues for assigned area; monitors customer use of and activities in and around facilities; provides direction and guidance as needed; responds to routine questions or complaints; and initiates problem resolution.
  • Performs routine maintenance and upkeep of assigned area and equipment: makes minor adjustments to equipment; cleans and stores equipment; sweeps floors and paths; replaces light bulbs; rakes leaves; picks up litter and debris from grounds; ensures the safety of the public and employees; utilizes equipment according to established instructions and safety procedures; removes trip and fall hazards; and performs regular safety checks.
  • Performs opening and/or closing duties: opens/closes and unlocks/lock gates, restrooms, and other facilities for assigned area.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory of equipment, supplies, and/or merchandise necessary for daily operations: initiates orders for new/replacement materials; and assists in receiving, storing and/or displaying inventory.
  • Operates or uses various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments: operates and maintains golf cart, range cart, ball washer, forklift, tractor, and other power or motorized equipment.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
  • Communicates with supervisor, other County employees, third party service contractors, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
  • Attendants assigned to golf course perform the following additional duties: Receives monies for greens and cart fees, merchandise sales, or other services and activities: conducts sales transactions; processes credit card payments, accepts cash payments, and makes change for charges; and closes out cash drawer at end of shift.
  • Attendants assigned to recycling center perform the following additional duties: Identifies and categorizes recyclable materials; monitors unloading and proper placement of materials; and contacts vendor when containers are full.
  • Provides guidance, direction and training to community service workers.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; previous work experience is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
