Site Reliability Engineer in Seattle, WA
Job description: About this role The SRE Environments team manage infrastructure as code, build and operate CICD pipelines, automate existing processes and maintain a catalog of self-serve offerings to help development teams get to production faster. We provide technical and architectural guidance to teams building or operating new and legacy systems on AWS. We identify common needs or pain points for development teams and build or collaborate with the larger organization to produce patterns, best practices or services. You will work with other SREs to support internal customers, operate and maintain infrastructure, architect and build solutions on AWS and regularly collaborate with other parts of the organization to provide project leadership, mentoring and technical expertise. This is not a tier one support role, but during certain high-traffic times of the year associated with the retail industry, you may be asked to provide tier two on-call support. This is a six-month contract position which will start out as a remote position initially. Our core working hours are 10am-4pm PST, but we strive for a flexible schedule to accommodate team members in different time zones. Once we are able to safely return to in-person work, you will have the option of working from our Vancouver, BC or Seattle, WA offices. Unfortunately, relocation assistance is not available. You have Interest in a customer-oriented role-supporting and advocating for our internal customers as they develop and operate on AWS An ability to define a problem space and propose technical solutions in writing, to get stakeholder buy-in and perform due diligence before implementation A knack for troubleshooting existing systems and finding opportunities to improve them An understanding of high availability, monitoring and reporting as foundations of solution design An advanced form of laziness that drives you to wonder, “why can’t Lambda do this?” The patience to learn from and mentor internal customers and teammates alike An understanding of when to build vs buy, and how to decide based on business priorities You have experience with Architecting and building on AWS Terraform or CloudFormation One or more scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Bash, etc) Implementing and operating CICD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI, etc) 4+ years of professional software development experience 2+ years of professional experience with public cloud infrastructure Nice to haves Experience leading teams Experience with Kubernetes, AWS Lambda and containerization AWS Solutions Architect or DevOps Professional certification System administration experience Familiarity with Java and/or the WebLogic ecosystem
