LDF is looking for a dynamic and experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join the Operations department.
The Warehouse Supervisor will oversee a team within the warehouse. Operational responsibilities are dependent by shift and include picking, quality verification, route loading, receiving, replenishment and repack. Leadership of a team leveraging coaching tools, performance management process and LDF culture development. The Warehouse Supervisor will assist in recruiting, hiring, training and retention of warehouse personnel. This position will be responsible to meet operational budgets and assure quality by seeking continuous improvement. The supervisor may be responsible to cover different shifts while in this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understands all LDF warehouse standard practices and is responsible for enforcement of those practices.
- Manages team to productivity standards to meet operational budgets.
- Manages team to meet critical operational timing to meet customer and internal needs.
- Ensures all OSHA safety regulations, local regulations and company safety rules are observed. Drive safety in team culture and work behaviors.
- Partner with other departments to ensure consistent customer service and efficient operational flows to include interfacing with delivery, sales and purchasing.
- Ensures quality through managing internal damage of product, proper loading of product to prevent route and customer damage, timely separation and repack of product.
- Competency in operational functions of WMS systems to train, coach, troubleshoot and drive improvements. Current systems include VIP and CirrusTech.
- Ensures proper product rotation and segregation using FIFO methods by leveraging WMS and manual monitoring.
- Deliver inventory accuracy through proper WMS and manual methods. Meets objectives for net shrink, absolute shrink and location accuracy.
- Maintains building security; assures that appropriate doors/gates are secured and personnel access is monitored.
- Assures a clean workspace leveraging visual management, 5S and warehouse certification.
- Regularly inspect facility and equipment for operational readiness, escalates or resolves issues as identified.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrates strong leadership and ability to manage others.
- Demonstrates basic understanding of warehouse operations and forklift skills.
- Experience managing climate-controlled storage and perishable product.
- Proficient PC skills to include MS Office suite and WMS systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodology preferred.
- Experience with warehouse automation preferred.
- Understands company policies, procedures and operations.
- Completes company training programs.
Education/Experience: Minimum 2 years warehouse operations or associates degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Language Ability: Has ability to communicate with subordinates and articulate problems or questions to the appropriate personnel. Basic Spanish preferred.
Math Ability: Moderate algebraic and statistical capabilities to solve warehouse issues. To include: order of operations, variables, geometry and averaging. Competent in all product units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Has ability to read and follow directions. Ability to conceptualize processes, identify gaps and recommend change based on business plans.
Certificates and Licenses: Forklift certified. Lean or Six Sigma preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise up to 20 associates with various roles and responsibilities.
Work Environment: Warehouse environment. Schedule dependent on assigned shift and business objectives. Minimum 40 hours per week on a four or five day schedule. Early morning, evening or nights may be required.
Physical Demands: Deals with sudden temperature changes when entering and exiting warehouse refrigerated area. Maintains an acute awareness of moving forklifts and trucks. Requires continuous standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling and lifting/carrying up to 160 lbs. May use back brace.
