This is a Department Promotional Examination and is open to eligible employees of the Kern County Auditor/Controller who have permanent status in the classified service and received an overall standard or better on their last performance report.Examinations: Appraisal (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any of the following: Investigation, oral examination and rating of the application.Should an oral examination be necessary, the oral examination will be weighted at 100%.Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field. If the major has been in a field other than accounting, at least 15 semester units or 25 quarter units of college level accounting courses must have been completed OR evidence of having passed all four (4) parts of the Uniform Certified Public Accountant examination OR possession of a Certified Public Accountant certificate, AND one (1) year of experience at a level equivalent to a Senior Accountant in the Auditor-Controller - County Clerk’s Department.Please ensure applicable materials are attached to your application. A background check may be conducted for this classification.
Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
