WORK LOCATION: 110 S. Bolivar
WORK SCHEDULE: 8am – 5pm
FLSA: NON - EXEMPT
REPORTS TO: Enforcement Director
SUPERVISES: Non-Supervisory position
MOBILIZE MARHALL DEPARTMENT/DIVISION GOALS:

Continue to develop employee technical knowledge an expertise through training and licensing.

Continue to improve on the quality of all work performed as it relates to work zone safety, cleanliness, and attention to detail.

Use resources and materials appropriately and in conjunction with division budget.
DEFINITION: Responsible for enforcing ordinances by performing site inspections, conducting investigations, and issuing violation notices and/or citations as needed.

Examples of Duties
-
ESSENTIAL AND RELATED FUNCTION STATEMENTS:Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
-
Resolve complaints and ensure compliance with City codes and/or standards related to overgrown and unsightly property, dilapidated structures, junk and abandoned vehicles, illegal dumping, zoning violations, and placement of various signs.

Prepare and issue letters concerning code violations and maintain code enforcement files and records.
-
Inspect and condemn substandard structures and arrange for demolition as needed.
-
This position is also a public information resource.

Performs related work as assigned. Provide evidence and testimony in municipal court regarding citations issued for code violations.

Perform related duties as assigned or required.

Typical Qualifications
-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Sufficient education, training and/or work experience to demonstrate possession of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities which would typically be acquired through:
-
High school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred.
-
Must have ability to read, interpret, and explain complex codes.
-
Must be able to work a flexible workweek (including some evenings and Saturdays).
-
Must have computer experience and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel or comparable software.
-
Ability to handle sensitive public contacts and the ability to deal with public tactfully and courteously, but firmly when necessary.
-
Must have ability to work independently and work cooperatively with others as part of a team.
-
Knowledge of building and zoning codes preferred.
-
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain basic code enforcement certification within one (1) year of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position requires moderate to extensive stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions, along with some combination of climbing and balancing. Position requires abilities to consistently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:Work is performed indoors & outdoors with exposure to noise, dirt, grease, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, fumes, animals, insects, chemicals, inclement weather.
