Summary of Position
The City of Marshall is accepting applications for a part-time Program Specialist to work at the Adult Community Center. This position is responsible to develop, organize, and implement a variety of programming activities, including social-recreational activities, arts and crafts, educational programs, and trips/excursions.

This position is also responsible to coordinate and lead group exercise classes 3 days per week. Paid training to lead group exercise classes will be provided Location: 107 S 4th Street, Marshall. The Marshall Adult Community Center is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Center is closed on major holidays. Schedule/Hours: Part-time position; 25 hours per week / 5 hours per day.
The hours for this position are generally Monday thru Friday, 5 hours per day, during the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., or 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., excluding holidays. Some flexibility in the schedule may be requested or required. Pay Range At Hire: $25.54 - $27.23 based on qualifications and related experience.
Full pay range: $25.54 - 33.97

Essential Functions
- Develop, organize, and implement a variety of programming activities for the Center. This includes but is not be limited to: social-recreational activities, arts and crafts, educational programs, and trips/excursions.
- Assist in the planning of annual events and activities occurring at the Center.
- Recruit volunteers in the community to participate in programs.
- Responsible for the opening and closing of the Center, as directed.
- Performs receptionist and customer service duties for the Center.
- Assist in general administrative duties at the Center, including but not limited to: general office duties, filing, copying, typing, booking room rentals, collection of fees, maintaining social media platforms and preparing and distributing printed information and announcements, as directed.
- Act as liaison and community resource for Senior Center members.
- Stay connected with older adult issues.
- Attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Possess a Group Exercise Certificate and CPR certification, or able to obtain both within 6 months of hire.
- Possess a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- One-year experience in a position performing administrative duties.
- Two to three years working experience with older adults.

- Knowledge and understanding of the older adult population including physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual and vocational needs.
- Knowledge of general program management (i.e., sign-up, creation, implementation, general customer service, etc.).
- Ability to schedule various activities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, rendering prompt and courteous service, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to read and comply with City and departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to use safe working practices and recognize hazards or unsafe conditions in daily work.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to utilize a variety of program tools and machines.

PUBLIC CONTACTS This position has daily/continuous contacts with City staff, senior volunteers, Marshall Area Senior Citizens, Inc. (MASC), Lutheran Social Services senior dining staff, Area Agency on Aging, state and regional agencies, and the general public. This position has monthly contact with Studio One Community Access TV, Marshall Independent, Marshall Radio, SMSU GOLD College, local and area senior housing complexes, Avera, One Voice for Seniors, MADAN, YMCA and Marshall Public Schools. Leading group exercise classes may include performing low-impact activities, such as stretching, balance exercise, light cardio, and strength exercises. Additional Information
Eligibility for hire will require the successful completion/passage of a criminal history background check, physical exam, drug screen, verification of driver's license, and reference checks to determine suitability for employment.
Regular part-time employees will receive paid leave time in accordance with Minnesota's sick and safe time law at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum accrual of 48 hours per calendar year. Employees must work at least 80 hours in a calendar year to be eligible for paid leave time.
